Time for another Quiz of the Month….
WHO is the Artist? WHAT is the Item?
Who is the Artist: A small bowl — A soft white matte glaze, with irregular angles. Constructional; contemplative. Can you guess — WHO is the Artist?? Hint: A Minnesota Artist.
What is the Item: Something very black with a teardrop shape; with a brownish skin. A new ingredient I recently found, and it was amazing tasty. Can you guess — WHAT is the Item?? Hint: NOT any type of insect.
First, the Artist: The Artist is very recognized in Minnesota — Monica Rudquist. She creates work, simply white or simply black. Porcelain, with strong finger/throwing marks. She includes a very strong cut-and-reassembled statement — Dissonance with hidden harmonies.
I love this small bowl — It makes a perfect ‘Sugar Bowl’. Alas, I do not have any other Monica Rudquist work to show you — Here is a link to her Facebook Page:
Next, the Item: I just recently discovered Black Garlic — Apparently, garlic that has been aged and fermented. It’s not nearly as pungent/smelly as regular garlic. It’s sweeter and more earthy in flavor — Definitely different.
I couldn’t wait to try it!! I prepared a Risotto — With Mushroom (including Porcini) and Black Garlic — It was absolutely DELISH!!!! I’m sure the Black Garlic contributed to the robust, toasty color (and the wonderful, earthy flavor). I added a wee bit of Mascarpone Cheese to keep it ‘creamy.’ It was truly, absolutely delicious — Earthy, complex, devine!
I’ve included my ‘adapted’ Recipe on my Recipes Page.
If this sounds like an intriging product, I understand that Whole Foods Market will be carrying soon. Or check out the Web Site: www.BlackGarlic.com
And again, hope you enjoyed the latest Quiz of the Month!!
